Shillong, Saturday, May 2, 2026: The all-Indian lineup of Shillong Lajong delivered a superb attacking display to comfortably defeat 10-man Chanmari FC 4-0 in the championship phase of the Star Cement IFL 2025-26 at the SSA Stadium in Shillong on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
Phrangki Buam, Treimiki Lamurong, Everbrightson Sana and Damaitphang Lyngdoh scored for the home side. Chanmari FC were reduced to ten men in just the 17th minute of the game as midfielder Joel Lalramengmawia received two quick yellow cards.
With this comprehensive victory, the Red Dragons moved to 21 points and retained their second-place position, narrowing the gap to league leaders Diamond Harbour FC to just four points. Chanmari FC remain in sixth place with 11 points.

The match began with both teams testing the waters through long-range efforts, but the dynamic shifted dramatically in the 17th minute. Joel Lalramengmawia received his second yellow card and a subsequent red for an unnecessary tackle on Vanlalhimpuia.
The resulting free-kick from a dangerous position just outside the penalty box yielded no harm, but Shillong Lajong FC completely dominated proceedings thereafter, monopolising 64 per cent of the possession. In the 20th minute, Abhay Gurung struck the woodwork from outside the area, while Vanlalhimpuia launched consecutive attacks down the right wing.
Chanmari FC remained resolute in defence until stoppage time of the first half (45’+1′), when Saveme Tariang delivered a long ball to Buam. The winger dribbled past two defenders and unleashed a fantastic curling rocket into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper absolutely clueless to give his side a 1-0 lead.

The second half began with Chanmari FC attempting to push forward in search of an equaliser, but their only clear opening resulted in a goal that was correctly ruled out for offside. Shillong Lajong FC quickly resumed their flurry of attacks and utilised their bench to devastating effect.
In the 70th minute, substitute Everbrightson Sana Mylliempdah provided a clever assist for fellow substitute Treimiki Lamurong. Despite a slightly heavy first touch, Lamurong delivered a scintillating and precise right-footed finish from the edge of the box, relying on perfect placement to double the advantage.
Eight minutes later, Mylliempdah turned from provider to goalscorer, finishing precisely from just outside the area following a swift counter-attack to make it 3-0.

The hosts were relentless, adding a fourth in the 86th minute. Spotting the Chanmari FC goalkeeper off his line and far to his right, Damaitphang Lyngdoh unleashed a powerful left-footed strike to completely seal the contest.
During the four minutes of added time, the Red Dragons hunted for a fifth, but the Chanmari custodian produced a brave rush off his line and a beautiful reflex save to deny Lyngdoh from point-blank range.
Ultimately, the substitutes finished off the visitors with sublime goals, ensuring Shillong Lajong FC cruised to a 4-0 win with absolute ease.
The hosts completely outclassed their opponents across the pitch, registering 16 shots (seven on target), 12 chances created, and four assists, while Chanmari FC were limited to just nine shots and two on target.
